So .... going by Dana's view, the WT researchers would only be denied access if they didn't pass inspection by UN Security.
How often did that happen?
Did it ever happen?
Where is it documented?
Is there any evidence that any WT journalist was ever denied access to any of the contents of the UN library for any reason, prior to the church's applying for membership?

Soon... In use since 1879!!
by ILoveTTATT ini wondered how fast the wt publications used the word "soon"... as in expectation of some prophecy or fulfillment.... eight pages into the first watchtower... july 1879.... "our design has been to present to the body of christ, "the chaste virgin" church, which expects soon to go in to the marriage and become christ's bride, a selection of sacred songs especially adapted to her condition and expressive of her desires and hopes.".
the expectation?
1881. http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/1800s.php.

I use 'soon' with my JWs whenever I agree to do something they know I am never going to do.

Does the letter provide evidence that the contents of the library were unavailable to them if they didn't have NGO status?
Is there any evidence anywhere that the contents of the library were unavailable to them if they didn't have NGO status?
I'm not aware of any rules that would have denied them access to the library or the contents, only that they had to apply ahead for a day pass if they wanted to visit Dag Hammarskjöld. If that is correct, then there was no NEED to join and their excuse is BS. It is up to the person making the claim, that they needed membership for access, so it is up to them to prove it.

I target members of any cult. I don't see the cult I was born into as being deserving of any special consideration.

I'm with Outlaw on this one LouBelle.
If you're here looking for advice on what to discuss or how to handle him, you should not be talking to him at all. If you can't control the conversation, just don't let them start one in the first place.
He is not your friend.
He has nothing of value to offer you that you can't get elsewhere.
If you must talk to a JW, never let them choose the subject. Quickly turn he conversation to a subject you know they are familiar with, but that they will be uncomfortable with, and hammer them on that. Do not answer their questions, they are there to answer yours, tell them that. The more they want to trick you into a change from a particular subject, the more you need to stay on it. Don't express your own opinions, just use questions to make them do the talking and lead them to making conclusions that they didn't want to come to and to indulge in behaviours that they would condemn if a member of another church used them. Use guilt when they try any tricks, dishonesty, double standards, or bullying, and feign being offended that they would try to treat you like a fool etc..
